Play Day

March 27, 2022 @ 10:30 am - 4:30 pm

Leicester Symphony Orchestra is kicking off it’s centenary year by inviting all musicians to take part in a ‘Play Day’ on Sunday 27th March!

Sunday 27 March 2022, 10:30am – 4:30pm • New College, Glenfield Road, Leicester, LE3 6DN

On the day musicians will get the opportunity to play two pieces, both suitable for players around Grade Eight standard. “We are keen to hear from players in most departments, but especially upper strings, double bass and brass players”, says organiser Pat Dobson.

The conductors will be Tom Featherstonehaugh and Theo Bently-Curtin, both students of Roland Melia, who was conductor of LSO from 1996 to 2000. Sheet music will be provided on the day, but players can download their parts from the internet via the link provided when they book their place.

The event is being held at New College, Glenfield Road, Leicester, LE3 6DN (10.30am to 4.30pm).

Non-LSO players are suggested to pay around £10 to participate. All players should bring their own refreshments and music stand. The afternoon session (starting at 1:45pm) is open to the public.

For more information and booking forms please contact Pat Dobson. Applicants under 18 years old will need to provide the contact details of a parent or responsible adult.
